Protection Relay Testing engineers
Qualified and competent person to test the protection system include relay settings in accordance with the approved setting schedules, commissioning and putting into service a piece of equipment or system and the demonstration that the equipment or systems fit for the purpose for which it is intended consisting of on-load, online performance and functional tests.

         IEC 60255  Electrical relays 

Qualification
The candidate shall be possessing minimum a degree or equivalent from recognised university in
electrical engineering. Any additional qualification in electrical protection system is preferable.
He shall have an understanding of electrical protection setting calculations, short circuit studies, CT/VT calculations etc. he shall have good knowledge of control protection schemes including troubleshooting. He shall have worked/be capable of working with all makes of numerical relays in addition to electro-mechanical and static types. This shall be verified during the interview and practical test.

Experience.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a reputed firm(S) in electrical engineering works, out of the 5 years he shall possess at least 3 years of testing and commissioning of protection system including troubleshooting. Experience in testing and commissioning of high voltage substations, Transformers, high voltage switchgear, low voltage switchgear, electrical protection relays, Autoreclosers (PMR) using the latest testing equipment.
The individual shall possess PDO AEP (Authorised Electrical Person) authority certificate after successfully undergoing LV and HV ESR courses. He shall be well versed with Shell Safety rules (DEP80.64.10.10) PDO Electrical safety rules (ESR, SP-1104) and electrical safety operating procedures (ESOP, SP-1108) and electrical permit system. He should also be familiar with PDO health Safety & environment (HSE) rules and specifications.
The candidate shall possess good knowledge of PDO power system. He shall be aware of the consequence of any power interruption/equipment tripping due to an error while carrying out protection testing and setting. On recruitment, the Practical test shall be conducted with typical relays using manufacturers test sheet format to establish that he possesses actual hands-on experience protection system testing and
the setting of relays, to ensure that he has carried out protection system testing and setting not merely watching. Should be familiar with the type of protection latest type of relays and test equipment. 
Should have both theoretical and practical experience. Ability in troubleshooting and scheme testing.
Knowledge of

         Electrical protection  setting calculations
         Short circuit studies
         CT/VT calculations etc
Knowledge about protection software such as MiCOM SI, DtGSI, PCM etc.
